S. Korea's Top Nuclear Envoy to Visit Beijing Updated: 2011-12-22 00:00:00 KST

South Korea's top nuclear negotiator Lim Sung-nam will travel to Beijing today for talks on the current state of affairs on the Korean Peninsula following the death of Kim Jong-il.
Officials say that, as well as getting an update on the situation in the North, Lim will also meet his Chinese counterpart Wu Dawei for discussions on the swift resumption of the six-party talks on the North's denuclearization.
Earlier this week, the US revealed it continues to be in contact with the North even after Kim's death.
And reports indicate that the US ambassador to Seoul, Sung Kim, told the head of ruling party's emergency steering committee Park Geun-hye Wednesday that there had been significant progress between the US and the North before Kim's sudden death.
