Seoul Prosecutors Arrest Ex-Vice Culture Minister Shin Jae-min On Charges of Taking Bribes
Seoul prosecutors have arrested the country's former vice culture minister Shin Jae-min on charges of taking bribes from a local businessman in return for favors.
A Seoul court issued an arrest warrant for the businessman late Monday evening six weeks after it turned down the prosecutors' first request to file an arrest warrant for the ex-minister.
The Seoul Prosecutors' Office opened an investigation into allegations that Shin, who served as a vice culture minister from 2008 through 2009, took more than 110-thousand US dollars from chairman of SLS Group, Lee Kuk-chul.
Prosecutors arrested Lee on bribery charges earlier this month.
