Standoff over KORUS FTA Continues at Korea's Natl. Assembly

Meanwhile, ruling Grand National Party leader Hong Joon-pyo says the pending Korea-US FTA will now have to be put up for a vote by due process of the National Assembly law.
At the party's supreme council meeting Thursday, Hong said that the GNP has met all of the main opposition Democratic Party's demands and added that the ratification cannot be put off any longer.
Hong's comment comes a day after the DP demanded an official document, signed by high-ranking officials of both countries, confirming a new round of negotiations over the ISD provision will take place immediately after the bill is ratified.
GNP members are scheduled to hold a party-wide meeting later in the afternoon to discuss how they will move the long-pending trade pact forward.
