President Lee Myung-bak said the country's four major rivers project will revitalize Korea's eco-system and help guard the country against natural disasters.
The president gave a speech Saturday at a ceremony marking the opening of 4 major weirs held at Ipo weir in Yeoju around 1-hundred kilometers east of Seoul on the Han River.
He stressed that the project will ultimately lead to the better use of natural resources in
the areas and help regional economies.
Each weir has its own set of unique features and the waterfront leisure facilities there, now allow visitors to enjoy a number of outdoor activities such as swimming, fishing and RV camping.
The opening ceremony provided a glimse of the four major rivers restoration project which was one of President Lee's green growth campaign pledges.
