A former US government official claims North Korea's uranium enrichment program may be far greater in scope than the facility it revealed last year.
Speaking in an interview with Yonhap News on Monday, James Kelly, former Assistant US Secretary of State and senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said that considering the time and money the North Koreans have put into the program, it would be foolish to underestimate the North's technical ability.
He added that he believes that Pyeongyang has a substantial uranium enrichment program.
Kelly served as assistant US secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs from 2001 to 2005, during which he dealt with North Korea's uranium enrichment issue.
