Scientist: N. Korea Likely to Test Nukes Again Updated: 2011-09-10 00:00:00 KST

A US nuclear scientist familiar with North Korea's nuclear program says the North may try to test a third nuclear weapon this time a smaller warhead that could be carried by a missile.
Dr. Siegfried Hecker, who revealed the North's secret uranium enrichment facility, said Friday that while the North can make "a rudimentary plutonium bomb," it would need a third test to develop a modern missile warhead.
Hecker said North Korea appeared to shut down its plutonium production four years ago, but expressed concern over the uranium enrichment facility.
He said the North could produce enough highly-enriched uranium to build two nuclear bombs a year.
