Chile Student Protests Spill Over to Argentina
And over in South America the ongoing Chilean student protests burst into violence on Tuesday and even carried over to neighboring Argentina, where many Chilean college students are attending university.
In the Chilean capital of Santiago, tens of thousands of protesters demanding the reform of a broken education system were met by water canons and tear gas from riot police, resulting in hundreds of arrests.
And in nearby Argentina, hundreds of students marched through Buenos Aires in support of their Chilean colleagues.
Earlier in the year Chilean President Sebastian Pinera announced cuts to a public education system that protesters say is underfunded.
Pinera, whose popularity has sunk to record lows, has promised to compromise.
