North Korea Requests Flood Aid from United Nations Updated: 2011-07-26 00:00:00 KST

The United Nation is launching a joint emergency task force after North Korean officials requested flood aid from the UN office in Pyeongyang.
UNICEF Asia spokesman Geoff Keele says the North requested on Monday a release of emergency relief supplies.
The non-governmental organization Save the Children says it will take part in the task force which will work with North Korean authorities to dispatch emergency inspection crews to regions hardest hit by the recent heavy rains.
