Children living in Fukushima Prefecture, the area hardest hit by the nuclear crisis in Japan, will receive medical checks for thyroid cancer for the rest of their lives.
The local government of Fukushima says around 3-hundred-60 thousand children will start to have thyroid cancer checks from December this year.
The children will take the test every 2 years until they turn 20, and after that they will have it every 5 years.
In a medical test conducted in March on 1-thousand children in Fukushima, 45-percent of them were confirmed to have been exposed to radiation
