3-step Process to 6-party Nuclear Talks on Top of Wi-Wu Meeting Updated: 2011-06-09 00:00:00 KST

Meanwhile, South Korea's chief nuclear envoy, Wi Sung-lac, who traveled to Beijing this week, is believed to have brought up the need to pursue the step-by-step process to resume the long-stalled six-party talks on denuclearizing North Korea.
The day before, on Wednesday, Wi had stressed the effectiveness of the three-step procedure, backed by the six-party members before the North decided unilaterally to abandon efforts to normalize inter-Korean relations.
The so-called three steps begin with inter-Korean dialogue, followed up by US-North Korea talks, then the six-way nuclear talks.
On Friday in Seoul, Wi is scheduled to meet with Russia's deputy nuclear negotiator and Washington's Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Kurt Campbell.
