Korea's major lending company and a financial unit of Hyundai Motor Group announced on Sunday that confidential credit information on its customers was leaked during a recent hacker attack which investigators say seems to have been carried out via servers in Brazil and the Philippines.
Hyundai Capital said that credit ratings and passwords for an unspecified number of its individual customers were leaked according to its internal investigation.
The revelation comes after the company made a public statement on Friday that an unidentified hacker had attacked its database, leaking personal information for some 420-thousand customers.
The Financial Supervisory Service said a probe into the leak will begin on this Monday.
Hyundai Capital specializes in personal loans, home mortgages, and auto financing.
