N. Korea Submits Foot-and-mouth Disease Report to OIE Updated: 2011-02-18 00:00:00 KST

North Korea has submitted a detailed report on the country's outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease to the World Organization for Animal Health.
The Paris-based organization posted the report filed last week on its website, in which the North claims there have been 48 outbreaks after the first case involving six infected cattle in Pyeongyang on Christmas Day.
And so far over 9,900 pigs, 5-hundred cows and 1-hundred-65 goats have been confirmed infected, while a total of 8,640 pigs and 15 cows have died from the disease.
Reporting that FMD has spread to most parts of the country, Pyeongyang admitted it has failed to control the outbreak with a domestically developed vaccine.
