US Energy Secretary Recognizes Korea as Technological Leader in Energy Sector
US Energy Secretary Steven Chu says the United States is no longer the technological leader in the nuclear technology and called for the need to develop new clean energy sources.
In his remarks made during an online town hall meeting on Wednesday, Chu said the US has fallen behind in the field with countries like Korea, Japan and France taking the lead at the moment and with China hoping to become a new leader.
He went on to say that it's time for the US to win back the leadership position in the area through the development of small modular reactors.
This echoes President Barack Obama's message in his State of the Union speech on Tuesday proposing new commitments to develop energy, education and infrastructure.
