Seoul Will Not Resume Six-party Talks for Sake of Talks Updated: 2010-12-30 00:00:00 KST

A day after South Korean President Lee Myung-bak said North Korea's nuclear program should be ended through the six-party talks, Seoul's foreign ministry repeated its stance that it won't return to the dialogue just for the sake of talking.
In a press briefing on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Kim Young-sun stressed that all of the six member nations will have to display sincerity and transparency in their intentions if the negotiations are to bear fruit.
Reaffirming that Seoul has not changed its stance that the North needs to first admit its wrongdoing and apologize for its aggression, the senior official, however, indicated a need for stronger diplomatic efforts to restore stability on the Korean peninsula.
