Govt.-appointed Panel Begins Review of New Cable TV Licenses
The Korea Communications Commission has begun reviewing the applications for general programming and news-only cable channels.
A general programming channel is allowed to provide multiple types of programs, such as entertainment and news, all on one channel.
The chairman of the commission, Choi See-joong, said on Thursday that a 14-member committee will review all proposals and is expected to announce its selections on December 30th.
Earlier this month, 10 media groups and a major business group applied for the licenses.
