UAE Asks KEPCO to Become Partner of Its Energy Firm Updated: 2010-11-14 00:00:00 KST

Meanwhile the United Arab Emirates has asked Korea's state-run Korea Electric Power Corporation to become a shareholder in a company being set up to oversee the Middle Eastern country's atomic energy production.
The Ministry of Knowledge Economy said Sunday that the UAE's Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation asked KEPCO for its participation as the Korean firms' expert personnel and technology is crucial in successfully operating the reactors.
While KEPCO representatives confirmed that negotiations are underway on this matter ministry officials expressed optimism that through KEPCO's participation the two countries' state-run energy firms will be able to become joint operators of the nuclear reactors being built in the UAE.
