Two Earthquakes Strike Areas Near Baekdu Mountain Updated: 2010-10-11 00:00:00 KST

Chinese media said on Monday that two earthquakes with a magnitude of roughly 3.7 and 3.2 struck China's Antu county in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture on Saturday.
According to local media the quakes were felt strongest in areas some 20 to 30 kilometers away from Baekdu Mountain which sits on the border between North Korea and China.
Officials said there were no casualties, but some damage to residential houses was reported.
According to the China Meteorological Administration there have been roughly 3-thousand minor earthquakes in the area around Baekdu Mountain since 1999 and their frequency continues to increase.
