Employees of Libyan Embassy in Korea Residing in Beijing Updated: 2010-09-15 00:00:00 KST

The Libyan diplomats on an assignment to Korea who left the country in June due to faltering diplomatic ties are known to be residing in Beijing.
A government official said the employees of the Libyan de facto embassy in Korea are known to be staying in Beijing waiting for a return date to be set.
In July, Libya arbitrarily suspended all diplomatic operations in Korea indefinitely closing the de facto embassy, which is officially known as the economic cooperation bureau.
The bilateral relationship turned sour back in June when Libya accused Korea of alleged espionage and illegal religious activities.
The official speculates that the Libyan employees' return to Korea will be imminent since the holy month of Ramadan observed by the predominantly Muslim nation ended last week.
