N. Korea Must First Engage Constructively Before Talks are Considered: US Updated: 2010-09-15 00:00:00 KST

The United States does NOT have plans to hold direct talks with North Korea at this point.
This is according to the US State Department Spokesman, Philip Crowley… during a daily press briefing on Tuesday.
Crowley reconfirmed the US's stance that they must first see North Korea change its behavior and meet certain obligations… before any kind of meeting with the North can be considered.
When asked if Washington has any plans to hold direct talks with Pyeongyang before the resumption of the six-party nuclear talks… Crowley said… the US previously had direct talks with the reclusive state when they thought the talks were useful, therefore, it's not ruling out possible meetings in the future.
