Whatever the case in North Korea, whoever leads the country… the US message to the reclusive regime is clear.
Give up your nuclear ambitions.
Speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations on Wednesday Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said… Washington is closely watching the "leadership process" in Pyeongyang but doesn't know how it will turn out.
Clinton, however, expressed hopes that whoever is in power there will scrap nuclear weapons emphasizing the most important thing right now is for the US and its partners to "convince whoever is in leadership that their future would be far better served by" abandoning their nuclear programs.
She said the North must "seriously discuss denuclearization that is irreversible."
Clinton's comments come ahead of talks next week on long-stalled disarmament talks by US special envoys in Seoul, Tokyo and Beijing.
