F-22 Raptors Make Korean Debut at the Korea-US Joint Military Exercise

VOD SERVICE
The four-day South Korea-United States joint military exercise in the East Sea is indeed an unprecedented one in many ways.
Apart from its large scale it is the stage for the American F-22 Raptor to make its Korean debut.
Two F-22s known as the best fighter aircraft in the world were shown combat-ready at Osan Air Base in Gyeonggi Province on Monday.
The fighter jet is capable of detecting objects of 1 meter in diameter at a distance as far as 250 kilometers away due to its sophisticated radar system.
Saying the Raptor is the most lethal fighter the US Air Force pointed out the jet's stealth design¡¦ which prevents it from being detected by enemy radars.

[Interview : ] "These airplanes integrate all of the sensors together to provide a 360 degree picture that is unrivaled in airspace technology."

U.S. officials were also eager to remind North Korea of the supersonic jet's presence as it can launch precise strikes at strategic targets.
The F-22 internally carries missiles that can play both air-to-air roles and air-to-ground.
The deployment of the F-22s to the drill¡¦ implies Washington's strong commitment to deter any provocative acts that could threaten stability in the Korean Peninsula as well as Northeast Asia.
