Chollian Reaches Geostationary Orbit Updated: 2010-07-07 00:00:00 KST

Korea's first ocean weather-communications satellite, Chollian, has successfully reached its target geostationary orbit.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said on Tuesday that the satellite is circling the earth at a speed matching the Earth's rotation and has deployed communications antennas and solar panels.
The ministry together with the National Meteorological Satellite Center and the Korea Ocean Satellite Center will test run Chollian for the next six months.
Korean groundcontrollers will take over full control of the satellite from France's EADS Astrium on Saturday.
