Explosive Substance from a Torpedo Found in Cheonan Wreckage Updated: 2010-05-07 00:00:00 KST

A multinational team of investigators for the sunken Korean warship Cheonan identified traces of an explosive substance in the wreckage that likely came from a torpedo.
A government official said Friday that traces of RDX, which stands for Research Department Explosive and a powerful ingredient in making torpedoes, were found in the naval vessel.
The latest confirmation is expected to further support suspicions that a torpedo caused the Cheonan to sink in the West Sea on March 26th, killing 46 sailors.
And Defense Ministry spokesperson Won Tae-jae said that the final results of the investigation are expected to come before the end of this month.
