Pres. Lee Marks May as a Month of Giving Thanks Updated: 2010-05-03 00:00:00 KST

President Lee Myung-bak marked the beginning of the month of May which is a month of giving thanks in Korea, with a call for Koreans to adopt positive mindsets.
Stating that positive attitudes are the driving force for growth and that expressing appreciation is the source of kindness in society, the Korean president also said that positive minds are needed to overcome crisis.
The President shared stories of Korea's independence fighter Yoon Bong-gil whose memorial hall the President visited during his Shanghai trip this past weekend and also of his mother who had encouraged him to stick to his principles.
The President also expressed his thanks to Koreans who have sacrificed themselves for a better society.
In Korea, the month of May is a time for expressing gratitude as it includes Childrens', Parents', and Teachers' Day.
