Preparations are in full swing with less than 45 days left until the World Shanghai Expo begins.
Most of the pavillions have been built including the one representing Korea one of 192 countries taking part in this year's expo.
The Korean pavillion is the second-largest in the sprawling expo compound while China's is the biggest.
[Interview : Park Eun-woo, Director-General of EXPO Department
Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency] "The pavilion got its motif from Korean letters. Korean language is one of the nation's greatest inventions and means of communication. It is also a convergence of consonants and vowels. Therefore, we designed the architecture to promote convergence and communication in the city."
Korea's Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan stopped by Shanghai on his way to Beijing for talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wu Dawei on bringing North Korea back to the 6-way nuclear dialogue.
He said the Shanghai Expo is important to Korea for many reasons.
[Interview : Yu Myung-hwan, Foreign Minister
South Korea] "We wish the Expo would contribute to strengthening bilateral relations, upgrade the country's image, and provide an opportunity for closer cooperation with China on holding a successful Yeosu Expo coming up in 2012."
Just after he arrived in the city Yu was greeted by Zhang Xinsen who has been named China's new ambassador to Korea.
Zhang expressed hope for South Korean President Lee Myung-bak's participation at the opening of the Shanghai Expo and said his goal was to build stronger ties with Korea.
[Interview : Zhang Xinsen, Director
General Office of Chinese Foreign Ministry] "During my tenure, I wish to upgrade bilateral ties, as it has been long done by my predecessors, and cooperate with all social spectrum in Korea to establish friendly relations between the two nations."
There's still more work left before the actual opening of the international event.
But already hopes are running high that the Shanghai expo will not only offer spectacular sights but give Korea the chance to showcase itself on the global arena.
