North Korea is said to have exported 45 tons of uranium to Iran via Syria and Turkey.
A Japanese newspaper Kyodo News International reports that diplomatic sources claim North Korea provided 45 tons of yellowcake uranium to Syria in 2007.
The uranium which is enough to make several nuclear bombs was then transferred to Iran around last summer.
Soon after the report, the US non-proliferation expert, Leonard Spector voiced concerns on the North Korea-Iran nuclear connection saying the two nations will likely cooperate to avoid UN sanctions which could seriously undermine the international efforts for non-proliferation.
