N. Korea Threatens to Abandon Efforts to Denuclearize Ahead of US-S. Korea Drill
In response to an annual military drill by the United States and South Korea North Korea on Sunday threated to abandon its denuclearization process and sever military talks with Washington and Seoul.
The announcement which was made by the Korean Central News Agency came on the eve of the US-South Korea joint military exercise called Key Resolve.
In its statement the North alleged that the drills were actually "nuclear war exercises" and said it leaves Pyeongyang with no choice but to "bolster its nuclear deterrent for self-defense."
This year the joint exercises will include 18-thousand US troops and it will run until March 18th.
