Laws on child molestation will be revised meaning tougher punishment against child sex offenders.
The Supreme Court's sentencing commission passed a revised bill Tuesday which calls for bumping up the maximum sentence of sex criminals from the current 20 years to life in prison.
And under the revised law sex offenders will no longer face lighter charges even if they were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime.
The revision also calls for tougher sentences for crimes targeted towards children below the age of 13 in areas designated as special safety zones such as school zones and apartment elevators.
The revised law still must be approved by the National Assembly before it can come into effect.
