Toyota announced yet another massive recall on Tuesday adding more woes to its once formidable reputation of quality.
The recall this time around involves over 400-thousand of the carmaker's 2010 hybrid models around the globe, including its popular Prius model.
So far, the troubled auto producer has recalled more than eight million cars.
In making the recall announcement, Toyota President Akio Toyoda said the decision was based on the company's foremost priority of putting customer safety first.
Toyota says the latest recall is due to a problem with the software that controls the anti-lock braking system of the hybrid vehicles.
There have been about 200 complaints in Japan and the United States about a delay when the brakes in the Prius were pressed under some conditions.
Following Toyota's decision in Japan, the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs here in Korea also announced the recall of the 510 Prius vehicles that were manufactured and imported into the country between February of 2009 and last month.
Owners of the relevant cars can receive repairs at Toyota designated service centers free of charge beginning next Tuesday.
