Korea has seen a 12-fold jump over the last 10 years in the number of people pledging to donate their organs.
The total number of organ donors has reached 600-thousand.
The Korean Network for Organ Sharing says there were only 47-thousand donors in 2000.
Last year 185-thousand people in Korea signed up to be organ donors up from 75-thousand in 2008.
The organ sharing agency attributed the spike to late Cardinal Stephen Kim Sou-hwan who donated his corneas after his death last year.
On top of the agency's increased campaigns to attract more donors the Korean government plans to ease complicated procedures for organ donation.
