The United States is reportedly considering early deployment of so-called "bunker-buster" bombs by July 2010.
The Pentagon says in light of recent nuclear provocations from North Korea and Iran, it is looking to arm its stealth bombers with 14-ton, six-meter-long Massive Ordnance Penetrators, or MOPs, that are capable of reaching bunkers of up to 60 meters below ground.
Many of Pyeongyang and Tehran's nuclear activities are believed to have been conducted underground to avoid detection.
The Boeing-built bomb, once deployed, would carry 10 times the destructive power of its previous model.
