Traffic Expected to Peak on Lunar New Year's Day Afternoon

During the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, traffic volume on the roads is expected to reach its peak on the afternoon of January 26th.

The Transportation Ministry says a daily average of close to 4.7-million travelers and 3.4 million cars will be on the move between January 23rd and 28th. Many Koreans will likely leave for their hometowns the morning of the 25th and return home the next day, the first day on the lunar calendar.

A return trip from Daejeon to Seoul is expected to take more than six hours, while coming back to the capital from Busan is likely to take more than nine.
