Koreans Flock to the Beaches As Vacation Season Kicks In

Today according to the Korean traditional calendar is the day when autumn begins, but mercury readings nationwide reached their highest levels this year.
Shin Haejoo tells us with this heat wave on and summer vacation season in full swing, millions are hitting beaches around the country.
It's high time to go on vacation.
With the rainy season out of the way daytime temperatures are topping 30 degrees Celsius along with a 70-percent humidity.
At this time of year many people find it hard to waste the sunny weather at home and head for the beaches instead.
Last weekend marked peak season for the nation's beaches.
More than one million people are estimated to have visited Haeundae Beach in Busan as of this past week while over three million spent time in other smaller beaches around Busan.
Given the number of visitors the beaches have been over-crowded.
From afar there is no sand in sight, only parasols and people.
Other famous beaches nationwide were packed over the past weekend.
Some 380-thousand people flocked to a popular west coast beach in South Chungcheong Province, while 800-thousand people enjoyed the east coast beach of Gyeongpo in Gangwon Province.
Despite the crowd visitors were excited to be by the sea spending time with family and getting refreshed before heading back to work and home life.
