A fresh batch of movies are out this Friday starting with local action comedy, "My New Partner" where a father and son collaborate as an investigating team.
Eight years after leaving his wife and son for another woman, nuisance cop Minho bumps into his son who grew into an investigative cop with the nickname "Police Dog."
Viewers can see Korea's hallmark actor, Ahn Seonggi, on a journey to overcome the past while contrasting investigation techniques with Police Dog.
From across the border, we have "My Blueberry Nights," China's established director Wong Kar-Wai's debut English language film.
The cast of "Blueberry" is enough to draw female viewers with Jude Law in the lineup and male viewers as well with Natalie Portman appearing, as well as singer Norah Jones playing the role of Elizabeth in her debut role.
Trying to put aside a rocky break-up, Elizabeth goes on a cross-country trip meeting diverse people and living a hand-to-mouth existence as a waitress.
The journey without a destination brings her realization about people and most importantly herself.
Critics note the beautiful screen work director Wang poured in to the film.
Then we have "Assembly," a Chinese war film that ranked No. 1 in China's box office.
The screen brings us back to the battle between China's People's Liberation Army and the Nationalist Party Kuomintang in 1948.
Company commander Gu Zidi and his 47 men await ordered to fight against the enemy until they hear the signal to halt, "Assemble!"
Gu ends up as the only survivor.
But the hero, is in misery, always reminded of the death of his men, whose bodies were never found.
To stand up for their honor, Gu goes in search for the men's bodies only to find the untold truth of the unheard call "assemble."
So for those of you who are on a journey of your own, you may find some on-screen companions at the theater this weekend.
