The sci-fi blockbuster ''D-War'' has attracted over 2.2 million viewers in just four days of release, spawning expectations that the movie might set a new box office record in near future.
D-War, which stands for Dragon Wars, is a monster movie created by a comedian-turned movie director Shim Hyungrae and stars Hollywood actors.
Critics attribute the film's success to computer graphics that are believed to match those of Hollywood science fiction productions.
The 30-million-dollar movie, the most expensive in Korea, is also to open at 17-hundred theaters across the United States in September, the widest ever US release for a Korean film.
