New Movie Releases for Dec. 15

Thanks for staying with us.
It is Friday, which is good news for those of you looking forward to the latest movies.
This week, we have two new Korean releases, one about the wonders or shortfalls of plastic surgery, and the other a murder suspense.
More from Son Heekyung.

"200 Pounds Beauty" is the second film by director Kim Yonghwa.
It's about an obese woman who undergoes plastic surgery to become prettier and thinner.
Or simply to be loved by men.
The romantic comedy stars actress Kim Ahjoong in her motion picture debut.
The film is based on a Japanese comic, but this adaptation focuses more on how the obese woman tries to find her true self.

Another Korean film out this week is "The World of Silence."
The mystery thriller deals with the murders of three girls from the same orphanage, all of whom were killed under similar circumstances.
Actors Kim Sangkyung plays a photographer who can read people's minds, and Park Yongwoo plays the detective investigating the case.
The two try to protect a girl who is likely the murderer's next target.

From Hollywood comes "The Holiday,¡± about two women who are fed up with their boyfriends.
Actress Cameron Diaz plays a movie trailer producer who dumps her boyfriend for cheating.
Actress Kate Winslet plays a wedding reporter whose boyfriend gets engaged to another woman.
The two women meet online and decide to exchange houses during Christmas.
One flies to the US and the other to Britain and each meets a new lover.

From Finland comes "Lights in the Dusk,¡± the conclusion to director Aki Kaurismaki's loose trilogy.
A night watchman's mundane life takes a turn for the worst after he's framed for a crime.
The film debuted at the Cannes Film Festival this year.
