Opposition party leader Moon Kookhyun has proposed a joint meeting of political parties, labor unions and business associations to discuss ways to create more jobs.
In a parliamentary address Thursday Moon says some 2 illion full-time jobs can be created by legally restricting working hours to under 2,000 hours a year. The co-leader of a coalition between the Liberty Forward Party and the Renewal of Korea Party also added that easing strained relations with North Korea is essential as escalating tensions could lead to a decrease in foreign investment.
And Moon was critical of the Lee Myung-bak administration's handling of the Yongsan tragedy and urged a formal apology from the president.
