Relics from the Goryeo Dynasty believed to be 800 years old have been discovered.
The National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage says about 1,400 pieces were pulled up from a shipwreck off the coast of South Chungcheong Province.
The cargo includes bamboo tiles from the Goryeo era with writings showing the destinations and departure dates for the ship.
And based on the information it appears that the vessel sank between the end of the year 1207 and the beginning of 1208.
This is the first time that such bamboo tiles have been found.
The ship was also carrying a cargo of grains and ceramics being sent by local authorities to influential officials in the capital.
