The traditional Korean alcoholic beverage called makgeolli, appears to be gaining popularity and attracting attention from around the world.
The Korea Customs Service says exports of makgeolli jumped 24 percent in the first nine months of the year.
Japan was by far the top importer of the rice alcohol taking up 87 percent followed by the United States, China, Vietnam and Australia.
Meanwhile, as part of its week-long series on South Korea CNN featured makgeolli on Thursday describing the drink as a milky, sweet alcoholic beverage that has now become "a hit on the cocktail circuit in fashionable Seoul bars."
