Yemeni Plane Crashes with 153 Passengers on Board
 
A Yemenia Airways passenger jet crashed into the Indian Ocean near the archipelago of Comoros Tuesday with 153 people on board.
The plane was flying from Yemen's capital Sana'a to Moroni, the capital of the main island Grande Comore, carrying 142 passengers, three of them infants and 11 crew members.
The Comoros is made up of three islands about 300 kilometers northwest of Madagascar.
Most of the passengers are believed to be Comoros residents returning from Paris.
Two French military planes and a French vessel are combing through the debris from the plane in a search and rescue effort.
According to the AFP one child survivor was found at the crash site and three bodies have been recovered so far.
Earlier, Yemen's official news agency Saba reported the country's Higher Committee on Monitoring Aviation Accidents said in a press release that some bodies were discovered at the crash site, but no further details were given.
Although the precise cause of the crash remains unclear, a representative from an air security agency covering the Francophone Africa region told the Reuters news agency that they think the crash occurred during its landing approach under bad weather conditions.
