The Korean soju market is showing some signs of recovery due to its sales in April.
According to the Korean Alcohol and Liquor Industry Association sales for soju across the country marked 9.75 million boxes an increase of six percent from March.
However, compared to last year sales have decreased by three percent.
Soju, a long-time favorite of Koreans for its affordable price recorded a drop in sales due to a prolonged economic slump.
In April, both Jinro and Lotte, two of the country's biggest soju makers, recorded a rise in sales compared to March.
Sales increased by seven percent for Jinro and nine for Lotte.
A Lotte official attributed the rise to seasonal factors.
