Tensions Felt in Roh's Hometown

Banners supporting the former president were hanged in a line from the entrance of the village showing how residents here are encouraging Roh Moo-hyun.
One day before the former president is to be summoned before prosecutors Roh's hometown of Bongha village was filled with jostling reporters.
The village residents went about their business just like a normal day but refused to share their thoughts on camera saying reporters have "distorted" the reporting on the bribery allegations surrounding Roh.

[Interview : Song Gyu-sub, Resident of Bongha Village] "It is very sad to hear about him these days. He has done well as a president, and I respect him. I hope everything goes well."

Bongha Village located in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province is Roh's birthplace and home to his retirement residence.
The village has been expanded and renovated through a development project allegedly funded by businessman Kang Keum-won who is also involved in the scandal.
Roh is expected to travel by car from Bongha Village early in the morning to present himself to the prosecutors in Seoul by 1:30 in the afternoon Thursday.
Reporters have been crowding this normally quiet country town for about a month and they may be around for some time longer depending on just how long this scandal drags out.

[Reporter : ±âÀÚ: ±è³ª¸®] "The village is quiet, but tension is growing, and the residents here are hoping the best for the former president.
Kim Na-ri, Arirang News, Bongha."
