Former First Couple to Face Bribery Questioning Next Week

Korea's former first couple is widely expected to face questioning in a brewing bribery scandal as early as next week.
Former President Roh Moo-hyun is suspected of having received one million US dollars from indicted businessman Park Yeon-cha.
This is what Park the chairman of shoemaking company Taekwang Industry told prosecutors Thursday.
Park claims one of Roh's closest aides took a bag filled with the money into the Presidential Office of Cheong Wa Dae.
This aide Chung Sang-moon who was one of the former president's closest confidants also allegedly helped the husband of Roh's niece receive five million dollars from Park.
And around the time of this transaction Roh Moo-hyun's son is said to have met Park himself along with his cousin-in-law.
The purported web of corruption doesn't end there.
Roh Moo-hyun admitted earlier this week that his wife Kwon Yang-suk accepted 1 billion won which is about 750-thousand dollars from the businessman.
Meanwhile in a statement on his website the former president appealed to the public asking them to have patience saying the truth of the matter may not coincide with the suspicions held by prosecutors.
Expressing discomfort with the heated media attention the former president asked the press staking out outside his house in South Gyeongsang Province not to take pictures of his home.
While there's no denying the ex-president his privacy for now all eyes will remain fixed on this case which is an ironic development to say the least for a leader once hailed for clean politics if not much else.
