Prosecutors Question Former National Assembly Speaker for Political Bribery Scandal

The Supreme Prosecutors' Office has summoned a former National Assembly speaker for allegedly taking illicit funds from Park Yeon-cha, the businessman at the center of a political bribery scandal.
Prosecutors are questioning Park Kwan-yong, for allegedly receiving 100-million won from Park, the chairman of Taekwang Industry in April 2006.
While the former speaker denies the bribery allegations, the investigation is focusing on whether the money was directed towards an election campaign of his past political aide in Busan.
Also, former parliamentary speaker Kim Won-ki is expected to be called in following the questioning of his chief secretary.
Meanwhile, prosecutors in Daejeon are interrogating Kang Keum-won, the chairman of Changshin Textile, over allegations of embezzlement and political bribery.
