Former Unification Minister Chung Dong-young of the main opposition Democratic Party expressed his intentions to make a comeback to the political arena.
At a press conference in Washington DC Chung said that he will be running for a seat in the National Assembly in the by-election to be held in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, in April.
Chung flew to the United States last July after being defeated in the 2007 presidential election and taught as a visiting professor at Duke University in North Carolina, taking a break from his 12-year career as a politician.
He said that he chose to make his comeback in Jeonju as this was where his political career began.
