In the middle of the capital city, relics from the Joseon Dynasty have been discovered.
The Hangang Institute of Cultural Heritage excavated the old 'Six Jo Street' under Sejong-no in downtown Seoul Wednesday.
The street was built under Taejo, the first king of the Joseon Dynasty between the 1300s and the early 1400s while developing the capital which back then was called Hanyang.
Six Jo refers to the six main administrative agencies under the government at the time.
Excavators said they also discovered a railway line from 1968.
Thanks to regulations requiring developers to check for relics before construction projects get fully underway many artifacts are being discovered in the capital.
