Korean women suffering from cancer is on the rise, according to a survey by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, Tuesday.
Korean females affected by the 11 major types of cancer reached over 1-hundred-88-thousand last year, a 10 percent increase compared to two years ago.
Types of cancer typically associated with women such as thyroid, breast and ovarian cancer also showed a two-digit growth over the past two years.
However, experts caution that the rising figures can be mainly attributed to more precise medical exams that can catch the disease at an earlier stage than in the past.
