Authorities investigating the fire say they have an arson suspect in custody and are questioning the individual.
The man, only known by his surname Chae, was reportedly apprehended at his home in Incheon, southwest of Seoul on Monday.
At the 69 year-old man's residence, the police found articles of clothing that the suspect is believed to have worn on the night of the fire.
Authorities also found a metal ladder and inflammable material which are also believed to have been used in the crime.
Mr. Chae was arrested in 2006 for allegedly setting fire to the Changgyeong Palace in Seoul, but is currently serving a suspended prison sentence after a court cited lack of evidence.
